My great-great grandfather was a tribal Chief!
A window in the Artist's life!:
My passion in music are Latin Jazz, (especially Cuban, Brasilian and Flamenco) and Native American Indigenous Flutes & traditional songs and drums!
Among the years, I had the chance to travel the world to share Native American Indian culture in a positive and interactive way with a public of all ages and in my unique original way. I am a professional musician professional, trained in classical, jazz, latin jazz and music composition, specialized in traditional indigenous music; I now make artisan silver jewelry, love photography work, built my own website, was commissioned to write (original story) and compose music for an entire theatrical children concert, so I have many different ways to share my creativity and heritage with the world. I have always worked at bridging cultures toward a better understanding of each other, in an empowering way. I am also a storyteller and I like to communicate with people in a respectful and profond way. I enjoy working with children as well as adults. Also, being the only female musician (transverse flute player) in latin jazz bands in Montréal or a Huron-wendat flute player and singer travelling around the world, an electroacoustic music composer, I often wore the hat of the outsider, but this encouraged me to push myself in different ways, diversify my path, which resulted in discovering my own original ways of expressions and interactions, but always with knowledge and respect of the traditions of my ancestors and the sacred. Also, I am a passionate and positive person, hard worker and good communicator with a good sense of humour and I have lots of compassion for others and their own personal path so I love to share my passions with others in order to help them discover new things, new sounds, new ways, and expand their horizon. I had the chance to travel in 11 countries and in sharing my stories and music, I aspire to inspire or encourage our youth to be proud of what they are, their unique self, and help them to open new doors to some inner talents they might not have discovered yet. Our traditions are very powerful and with my flutes, my stories and my songs, I was able to touch the heart of my public or student in a deep way, and this is what life is about to me. I am very close to nature and this transpires in everything I do, and I work also at holding the space for this connection with all our relations for others to experience it more, everyday. Immigrating from Montréal, Qc, Canada to Oregon, USA in a small coastal town in 2012, after meeting the love of my life, a Chippewa flute maker, was a unique and fullfilling personal experience but also, has been a challenge for the continuation of my music career as a latin jazz flute player and my direct implication in the culture in my Native community, but this has also allowed me to learn new things like making my own artisan silver jewelry, to become a Certified dream teacher at Robert Moss’s school of active dreaming, to do photography work with the amazing surrounding wildlife and nature of Oregon and USA, and has brought me openings that I have never expected, like working on a project with the Smithsonian’s National museum of the American Indian in the artist leadership program.
The flute has carved my path toward the love of my life, meeting amazing people around the world and allowed me to share my visions and talents at a deeper level because the North American Indigenous flute is a special healing tool that touches the heart and can soothe the soul. My husband, dg Hatch, Chippewa, makes the most amazing sounding flutes and I believe, especially at this time, that bringing more of this medecine to the people, can be a very transformative experience for many...
